A retiree paid 7.77 euros per liter of diesel near Toulouse

A retiree was surprised to pay almost 120 euros for only 15 liters of diesel, says an article in the office.

Not easy to fill right now. And sometimes after a long queue, the bill can be steep, with prices going up in recent weeks.

7,777 euros per liter

Extreme example last Sunday near Montrabé, north of Toulouse: a retiree paid almost 120 euros for only 15 liters of diesel, reports an article in the office. With an exorbitant price per liter that had made many drivers back down.

“People were lining up. There were four people in front of me. In the pump, it was stated that no ticket was distributed. I saw that people were leaving, I thought that was why,” testifies Satiha, 63.

The totem at the entrance of the station displayed an exorbitant price of 7,777 euros per liter of diesel, but the retiree did not worry about it, thinking both of a computer failure and of the undelivered tickets, the article points out. And it was the maximum amount of 120 euros that finally limited its fill to just 15.34 liters, causing the gun to fire a little faster than expected.

It was then that he realized that he had paid 7.77 euros per litre. “She was out of my mind, she completely disturbed me”, reacts the retiree, who the next day decides to contact the station where they tell her that it was enough “not to come to help yourself”.

“The station was closed”

The person in charge of the supermarché où found the station, dont l’enseigne n’est pas citée, donne de son côté an intriguing explanation: d’après lui, “la station était fermée”, avec “des panneaux qui l’indiquaient clairement et a barrier.”

“These people ignored the signs and moved the barrier. It’s a violation of private space, it’s a little too easy. My clients know that the station was closed. We have videos of these people,” says the manager.

It is equally strange that the pumps were still active if the station was closed, with banking terminals a priori also operational, and that therefore it was enough to move a barrier to access the station and use it.

“In the stations, the price of fuel is set freely, according to the rules of competition. In this case, the station was closed and nobody should have used it”, it limits itself to specifying the article of The office.
