After an excellent year 2023, Renault wants to be at least as generous as its competitor. Asked about his intentions regarding the distribution of profits with employees, the general director of the French manufacturer, Luca de Meo, promised before the microphone of BFM Business a gesture “comparable” to that of Stellantis.
The Carlos Tavares automobile group, which made a record profit in 2023, announced that it would redistribute nearly 1.9 billion euros among its employees around the world. Between participation bonuses and profit sharing, this represents a minimum amount of 4,100 euros gross for each of its employees.
“We are going to have something very comparable,” declared Luca de Meo to BFM Business, while Renault confirmed its return to the track after difficult years by publishing on Wednesday a net result (group participation) for the year 2023 of almost 2.2 billion of euros. .
Employee participation plan
The manager also recalled that Renault had “launched an employee participation plan that is a reference in Europe.” “Our goal is for 10% of the company’s capital to be in the hands of employees by 2030. We are already at more than 5% (…). We are very proud of this because I think it is very modern,” he added. . .
After four years of decline, the group’s sales recorded an increase of 9% in 2023, with 2,235 million vehicles sold, mainly in its economical Dacia brand and in the compact segment, with the Arkana or Austral SUVs.
Revenue, which increased by 13.1% in one year to €52.4 billion, was driven by these volumes, but also by a strong impact from price increases and the number of vehicles sold in higher ranges.
