Launched in 2019, the second generation of the Renault Captur was a great success, especially in France. Last year, the small SUV finished as the sixth best-seller on the market, just behind its main competitor, the Peugeot 2008.
For this reason, Renault is taking advantage of this mid-career to give a facelift to this model produced in the Spanish factory in Valladolid, whose marketing is scheduled to begin this April.
A design at the height of the latest creations
In terms of design, it is on the front where the changes are most important. We find an original grill, a bit in the style of the last 100% electric Scénic. The lighting signature, with the two vertical half-diamonds, appears lighter than the striped design of the Scénic or the Clio.
The other changes are more discreet. The Captur notably retains its dimensions with a length of 4.24 meters, its modular appearance with the rear seat sliding 16 centimeters and numerous customization possibilities. In total, 14 possible configurations with six body colors and different optional shades for the roof and mirrors.
An interior that is updated to OpenR Link
Inside, the Captur receives new seats depending on the equipment level: Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine.
In the multimedia section, the small SUV recovers the OpenR Link system with integrated Google, introduced by the Mégane E-Tech and which is also found in the latest Austral, Espace and Scénic. On the program, a 10.4-inch vertical central touch screen, complemented by a counter display.
Beyond the habitability and trunk volume of the Captur, the possibility of optionally having glass and a sunroof also continues to be a great advantage over the Clio.
Same choice of engines.
However, nothing changes under the hood. In France we will find a 1.0 Tce turbo 3-cylinder, 90 horsepower gasoline engine associated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
In addition, two 4-cylinder “mild hybrid” engines of 140 and 160 horsepower are offered, as well as a dual gasoline-LPG engine of 100 horsepower and the “E-Tech full hybrid” engine (non-rechargeable) of 145 horsepower.
Prices have not yet been communicated. Currently, prices for the Captur started at 25,800 euros.
