The extension until November 15 inclusive of the “exceptional” reduction of 30 cents announced by Elisabeth Borne has just been formalized through the publication of a decree in the Official Gazette.
This measure applies from September 1. It was created to deal with the sharp increase in prices caused by the war in Ukraine. It was supposed to end in October, but due to refinery strikes and the difficulty of obtaining fuel, especially during the All Saints holidays, it was postponed. The aid will be progressively reduced until the end of the year. Between November 15 and December 31 it will be reduced by 10 cents. So, the government warned the end of this bonus, except for an exceptional event.
“Everyone will understand that we cannot permanently maintain a measure that is also an incentive to consume fuels, including fossil fuels,” stressed Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy and Finance.

However, the government announced in mid-October that a device intended to people really dependent on their car to go to work, the current discount could happen.
“If prices skyrocket, we plan in 2023 to help our compatriots who take their car to go to work. They can be doctors, liberal professions, employees and they will be specific aids and nothing more”, explained Bruno Le Maire. This aid was to be covered by an allocation of 1,700 million euros.
In parallel to the aid from the Government, that of TotalEnergies (that is, an additional 20 euro cents) will be extended until mid-November at the request of the Government. It will be lowered to 10 cents until the end of the year.
