Paris Motor Show 2024: what to expect from Renault, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Tesla and Chinese brands?

The Paris Motor Show will open its doors to the public from 15 to 20 October with the return of numerous manufacturers. Discover the main new features present at this 90th edition.

After a 2022 edition marked by many absences, the Mondial de l’Auto returns this year to Paris with a much richer programme than two years ago.

The organisers have also planned 50% more exhibition space with access to six pavilions for this 90th edition.

Ford, Audi, Skoda… Many turns

Several manufacturers will be making a comeback, such as Volkswagen Group brands Audi and Skoda, Mini, Ford and Kia. All will be highlighting their new models, often available 100% electric, such as the Ford Explorer, the Skoda Elroq or the Kia EV3.

Also back at the show: Tesla, which has just confirmed its participation. On the programme of the American brand’s stand, the opportunity to discover the Cybertruck and its entire current range. Rumours point to the presentation of a Model Y in a 7-seater version, a version that until now was only offered in the United States, but Tesla does not confirm this.

French stars

Among the French manufacturers, the new Renault 4 is expected to be one of the stars of the show, alongside the Renault 5, which will go on sale. Production versions of these former stars of the diamond brand will be accompanied by a non-production concept, the R17 Restomod.

At Alpine, all eyes should be on the A390_β concept, which will herald the Dieppe brand’s next production model, following the A110 and A290.

Dacia, which also belongs to the Renault Group, will present its long-awaited new SUV, the Bigster.

Peugeot and Citroën will once again be present at Stellantis, highlighting their main electric innovations, the 408, 3008 and 5008 for the lion brand and the Citroën C3 for the beams.

Still in Stellantis, Alfa Romeo will return with its first 100% electric model, the small SUV Junior.

The Leapmotor stand should also attract curious visitors. Founded in 2015, the Chinese brand has created a joint venture with Stellantis and is preparing to launch a small city car, the T03, and a large SUV, the C10, in Europe at very aggressive prices.

Chinese brands in number

The show, which will already have a strong presence in 2022, will welcome numerous Chinese manufacturers, including BYD, GAC, Skyworth, Seres and even Xpeng. Just look at brands that are still little known, but which have great ambitions to develop their sales in Europe, despite the tense context in the area of customs duties.

Another strong trend: the rise of cars without a permit, which can be found on the stands of Aixam, Ligier and Microlino.

Cars to dream about

Among the absentees are Mercedes, Volvo, Hyundai, MG, but also all the Japanese brands, with Toyota at the forefront. Unfortunately for sports fans, there will also be no need to count on the presence of Bugatti, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari, McLaren or Aston Martin in the stands.

James Bond fans will be able to console themselves with an exhibition of iconic film vehicles, including the Aston Martin DBS and the 007 BMW 750. Also in the Movie Cars Central collection are a Batmobile, a Peugeot 406 from the Taxi series, a Magnum Ferrari 308 GTS, a K200 Pontiac Firebird “KITT” and even the legendary Delorean from Back to the Future.
