An Navy ship and a boat of the Chinese coast guard collided while looking for a Patrolman from Filippin in the south of the China Sea on Monday, August 11. That day, Filippin’s ship escorted boats that distribute help to fishermen in the region. On board, the staff filmed the scene before transmitting the video on social networks.
In the images, we can see a ship of the Chinese Coast Guard, and a much larger ship with the number 164, colliding in a large clash, near the Arrecife in Scarborough.

“I hope that this incident convince the Chinese government to respect the collision prevention rules. We have repeatedly repeated that the dangerous maneuvers in the sea can eventually cause incidents or maritime accidents and that is exactly what happened here,” said Jay Tarriela, spokesman for the Philippine Coast Guard.
The south of the Sea of China, object of lust
Rich in hydrocarbons and fishing resources, the south of the China Sea is a very coveted and dispute region, where 60% of the world maritime commercial traffic. If China wishes to extend its influence there, it faces the ambitions of the Philippines with whom Beijing disputes the sovereignty of several maritime territories.
Among them, the Arrecife of Scarborough, where the collision between the two ships occurred, located 240 km west of the Filipina coast already 900 km southeast of the Chinese island of Hainan. This territory is the object of a dispute between the two countries since China seized it in 2012 despite international law.
