While Uber plans to launch diesel at the end of 2024 in France, the VTC application has just revealed its annual ranking of the models most currently used by its drivers.
The hybrid dominates
More and more models are being converted to hybrid and electric, which represents 87% of the current fleet. This is also what we find in this top 5 of 2024, with the first four places, hybrid models and total dominance of Toyota, the Japanese brand that popularized this technology. Electricity makes an appearance in this ranking, with the Tesla Model Y which last year only occupied seventh place.
Top 5 models for all engines in 2024
- Toyota Auris (hybrid)
- Toyota C-HR (hybrid)
- Toyota Prius/Prius + (hybrid)
- Toyota Corolla (hybrid)
- Tesla Model Y (electric)
Compared to last year, the Toyota Auris is still first, something quite surprising for a vehicle that is beginning to show the weight of its years. The last new examples were marketed in 2018, before the succession of the Corolla, fourth in the ranking. The Peugeot 508, still second in 2023, is outside this top 5, as are the Kia Niro and the Mercedes V-Class and E-Class.
Increase in electrical energy
Uber specifies that the Tesla Model Y should still gain some positions in 2025, because it is currently the first model among the new vehicles registered in the application.
The change is particularly striking compared to 2019, with a top 5 made up solely of diesel vehicles, remembers Uber.
In fact, the top 5 was made up of the Peugeot 508, the Volkswagen Passat, the Citroën C5, the Mercedes C-Class and the E-Class.
The 5 best electric cars in 2024
- Tesla model Y
- Tesla model 3
- Kia Niro
- Škoda Enyaq
- MG4
Uber notes that the MG4 shows “good growth dynamics” among its drivers, enough to hope to get on the podium next year.
The Uber project plans to have only electric vehicles by 2030. A year for which the Greater Paris metropolis plans to only allow the circulation of this type of vehicles in its EPZ.
