“Last days to benefit from the ecological bonus of 4,000 euros and the conversion bonus before changing the conditions”: this is what we can read when visiting the Peugeot website this Friday.
The same observation among the main brands distributed in France, such as Renault, which highlights in this context its new R5, or Volkswagen with its ID.3 “from 27,990 euros before the reduction of the ecological bonus.”
End of the 2024 bonus the day after the decree
The Government confirmed this Thursday the new system, which includes a strong reduction in the ecological bonus and the elimination of the conversion bonus.
A framework that will come into force the day after the publication of the decree, “in the coming days,” Bercy stated this Friday, without further details, and not on January 1.
Reduction of different bonus amounts
Enough to cause an imminent increase of at least 2,000 euros in the new 100% electric models affected by the reduction in the different amounts of the bonuses.
The main aid, without income conditions, currently allows individuals to withdraw 4,000 euros from the price of the new vehicle, an amount generally deducted directly at the time of purchase from a dealer, who then recovers this sum from State services.
For French people with modest incomes, with a reference tax income per share less than or equal to 15,400 euros, the aid is 7,000 euros. Now it will be 4,000 euros for a tax income of up to 16,300 euros per unit and 3,000 euros up to 26,200 euros per unit.
The disappearance of the conversion bonus was also confirmed. This system would allow additional assistance for an old car that has been scrapped.
Delivery time of three months
By 2024, the green bond had evolved significantly and is now subject to an “environmental score.” Specifically, now only models assembled in Europe could benefit from it, de facto excluding models produced in China and always within the limit of a model at a price below 47,000 euros without options.
If we look at the 10 best-selling electric models in France from January to October, the first five models in the ranking (Peugeot e-208, Tesla Model Y, Renault Mégane, Fiat 500e and Renault Twingo). But we find the Tesla Model 3, assembled in China, in sixth place, as well as the MG4 in ninth place.
In eighth position we find the BMW iX1, with a price that started just below the maximum bonus limit in France.
Please note that the voucher is valid for placing an order before the day following the publication of the decree and with delivery within 3 months.
“For any order before the 2024 bonus ends, we commit to delivery within 3 months so that our customers can benefit from the 2024 bonus,” Citroën told us, for example.
We can take the example of its ë-C3, which currently has a list price of 23,300 euros. Discounting the maximum bonus of 7,000 euros and the conversion bonus of 1,500 euros, it continues to show “from 14,800 euros.” By moving to the 4,000 euro bonus, its starting price (for certain income categories) would increase to 19,300 euros.
