Japanese automobile giant Honda and its compatriot Nissan have agreed to begin negotiations for a merger that will likely create the world number three in the sector, Nissan said in a statement.
Mitsubishi Motors, of which Nissan is the main shareholder, will be able to participate in the negotiations to integrate the new industrial alliance into a “single holding company.” This merger aims to strengthen its position in the electricity sector, a technological sector dominated by the American Tesla and Chinese groups.
