One more small step towards the simplification of administrative procedures… And the demonstration that all the savings are worth it in a tense budgetary context. Since Thursday, January 2, the conditions for receiving registration documents and driving licenses have changed.
Now these documents are sent directly to the recipient’s mailbox. The latter will no longer have to sign with the postman to receive the document, nor will he even have to go to La Poste to pick up a certified letter in case of absence, as was the case until now.
One year experiment
“In the context of a restrictive budgetary situation, the evolution of the delivery chain of certain titles is identified as an important axis of simplification for the user and rationalization of public spending,” can be read in a decree published in the Official Gazette on December 13, 2024.
“The objective is to save while maintaining the quality of service to users and the fight against fraud,” also indicates a decree of December 16.
Specifically, driving licenses and registration cards will now be sent by tracked mail. A new method that will allow the recipient to follow the delivery of their documents online and ensure that they will be delivered to their mailbox.
The decree of December 13 specifies that this measure will be maintained if it is effective and efficient “after one year of operation.”
Good news for motorists that will probably not be enough to forget the increase in the price of the registration document announced in several regions at the beginning of 2025.
