The criteria of the environmental score harden for electric cars, in fact, excluding the ecological bonus of the models imported in the kit and gathered in Europe, according to a decree published this Friday, January 24 in the official magazine.
Taking into account the “manufacturing site”
The environmental score now takes into account the “manufacturing site” of the vehicle, where the print of its box is carried out, but also its paint and its “final assembly”, according to this decree.
Until now, the score took into account the “assembly site”, where “the installation of the electric motor and the battery is carried out within the framework of the vehicle version”.
This score conditions the award of purchase or rental help, essential for the development of electrical models, more expensive than its thermal equivalents.
The environmental score is calculated by the ecological transition agency (gesture) with data provided by the manufacturers.
It takes into account the fingerprint of carbon production: the materials used, the assembly, the battery and its manufacture are still very emitted in CO2, as well as the transport of the vehicle from its manufacturing location.
If no criteria is eliminatory, the score promotes European and de facto production excludes Chinese cars.
Private Bonus Salto
But several Chinese manufacturers plan to open factories in Europe. The automotive sector had alerted public authorities about the risk of only manufacturing cars prepilled in Asia, as many large manufacturers in Maghreb or Latin America already do.
This is particularly the case of Leapmotor, a Chinese brand partner of Stellantis, and who intended to benefit from the ecological bonus with the manufacture of kits in Europe. Therefore, it would not be possible with this hardening of the environmental score.
On its official website, Leapmotor now shows its small T03 of 17,900 euros, it no longer mentions an “possible ecological bonus included”, as is the case at the end of 2024.
The exception of only Mazda MX-30
Among the eligible European electric models, we find the Assembly of Peugeot 208 in Spain, the Italian Fiat 500, the Citroën C3 Slovaca, the Renault 5, Mégane, or the French stage, the BMW IX1 and IX2 and Mercedes Eqa German, or the Volkswagen ID .3, ID.4 or ID.7.
Asian manufacturers also appear (Toyota with Proace, Nissan Leaf and Townstar, gathered in France and the United Kingdom, or the Hyundai Kona, gathered in the Czech Republic), the Ford met in Germany, and the and of Tesla, the SUV made near Berlina.
Only a vehicle gathered in Japan passes the bar, the Mazda MX-30 thanks to the efforts in its production and transport.
The Tesla Model 3, the Dacia Spring or the Byd Sealion 7, made in China, have no right to bonus.
