A podium almost unchanged compared to last year. The Renault Clio and Peugeot 3008 and 308 are at the top of the classification of the most stolen cars in France in 2024, published in the latest auto plus issue.
Logically, we find the most popular models at the top of the classification. Clio 4 was still the number one target of the thieves with 2,283 cases identified last year. The weakness of the security system against electronic flight and its spare parts that are destroyed in the parallel market make it a privileged objective, says the specialized magazine. The next generation, the CLIO 5 is already in the eighth place.
Almost only we find cars of French brands in the top 10 with two exceptions: the Toyota Rav4 (sixth) and the C-HR (10th).
A very high proportion for the Toyota Rav4
The RAV4 even stands out as the most stolen vehicle in proportion to its presence in the French cars fleet, with a frequency of 214 flights for 10,000 copies in circulation.
An impressive figure: for the Clio and Peugeot 308 and 3008, we range between 27 and 34 flights for 10,000 copies.
The second model will be more frequently stolen, another Toyota, the little SUV C-HR, but with 57 flights for 10,000 cars in circulation.
Auto Plus indicates a predetermined security system for these two models. The RAV4 is still very popular for “its reliability, its robustness and its resale value.”
