The Airbus A320 has become the best-selling aircraft in the world, dethroning the Boeing 737. The American aircraft manufacturer announced that it had delivered 55 aircraft in September, including forty 737 MAX, the latest version of the 737 family, launched in 1968. This brings the total to 12,254 units delivered since its launch, including business versions, up from 12,257 A320 units. It came into operation in 1988, according to AFP calculations.
The European aircraft manufacturer significantly increased its delivery pace in September, after delivering 73 aircraft to its customers, 59 of them from the A320 range. Last month’s deliveries to 41 customers bring to 507 the number of new aircraft from the European aeronautical giant added to the airline fleets since January, an average of about 56 aircraft per month.
In August, Airbus, which still suffers from problems among some of its subcontractors, had delivered 61 aircraft. The aircraft manufacturer aims to make 820 deliveries in 2025, that is, a monthly rhythm, smoothed throughout the year, of more than 68. It then plans to build 75 aircraft. of the A320 range per month by 2027, when it will have ten assembly lines around the world for its flagship devices.
