Stellantis proceeds to a new reminder in France, 68,000 interested cars

A week after having immobilized 236,000 cars in the northern half of France due to defective airbags, the group of car manufacturers remembers 68,000 Citroën C3, Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208 due to a “oil cooling nozzle problem.”

The figure is less substantial than last week, but it is still important. The Stellantis group withdrew 68,000 vehicles through France on Monday morning due to a “oil aircraft cooling problem.” In detail, 57,000 Citroën C3, 8,000 Opel Corsa and 2,500 Peugeot 208 are affected. The cars, manufactured between 2022 and 2024, share as another common point to be equipped with the Puretech 1.2 engine, a three -cylinder gasoline model.

“We make a reminder because we consider that security is a priority, this is the precautionary principle,” said the group of car manufacturers in BFM Business, evoking “a problem with a supplier.”

Stellantis believes that the identified problem has a fire risk: if the engine is maintained, the part can break and project oil in the exhaust. Motorists will be informed by mail and then can go to their concessionaire to benefit from a free repair that lasts half an hour and that in particular will consist of replacing the engine of the engine and the oil filter.

New wave of fixed assets linked to the Takata scandal

Last Monday, it was requested that some 23,900 owners of Citroën C3 and DS 3 in northern France no longer roll while their air bags changed, as part of a new wave of fixed assets linked to the Takata scandal. It is likely that these airbags cause serious injuries and have already caused at least one death in continental and eleven France abroad, where the climate degrades one of its components faster, according to the Ministry of Transportation.

After several fatal accidents, Citroën and DS had already launched a first immobilization campaign, called “Stop Drive”, in early 2024 in southern Europe and in the Maghreb, immobilizing thousands of motorists for weeks. In France, he referred to the south of the country and especially abroad. The decision to begin reminders with these regions had been taken “on the basis of the heat and humidity criteria of the long -term climates”, the two factors that damage these airbags, according to Stellantis, the mother of Citroën and Ds.

Vehicles concerned with retirement last Monday are north of a Lyon-Clermont-Ferrand line and registered between 2008 and 2013. Citroën had already called them to go to the garage since January 2025, but without immobilizing them. Therefore, the new tests carried out in a car in Loire -atlantique, north of this line, showed a “degradation of the properties” of ammonium nitrate, the product used to inflate the cushion in case of an accident, according to a door – Stellantis Group in AFP. Therefore, the Stellantis group has decided to extend “as a precaution” the immobilization measure to the rest of France, he said. The owners of these vehicles are called to make an appointment on the Citroën website.
