The two -wheeled technical control celebrates its first birthday. The measure had been implemented in April 2024, not without many criticism of the drivers of scooters and motorcycles. And both to say that a year later, these two camps are largely divided on the interest of this new obligation.
In general, 67% of two -wheeled motorized users believe that this technical control strengthens their road safety, according to the latest BPCE* barometer published this Thursday, April 10. A rate that rises to 77% in the Paris region.
A more popular measure among young people
But the study also shows an important fracture between cyclists and scooters. A large majority of Scooter drivers (80%) recognize that technical control has improved their safety, while less than one in two (45%) in cyclists.
The measure is much more popular among young people under 35, who approve 73%, as between those over 50, with whom this rate falls to 49%.
In all respondents, 61% say that technical control has encouraged them to keep their vehicle more regularly. But there is still a great disparity between Scooter users (72%) and motorcycle conductors (46%) on this subject.
*Study methodology: The survey was conducted online from February 18 to 26, 2025 in a sample of 1,023 people, representative of motorized two wheel vehicles (motorcycle or scooter) at least once a month. The representativeness was ensured by the quota method applied to the following criteria: sex, age, socio -professional category, region and frequency of use of motorized two wheel vehicles.
