The German cars produced in the United States? Given the customs tasks applied to the automotive sector by Donald Trump, the Volkswagen chief is considering producing part of the Audi brand cars on the American soil.
“We have things to offer to the United States,” Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Oliver Blume, which seems to be in full negotiations for the German newspaper. German manufacturers, and a fortiori Volkswagen, are beaten by the tasks of American customs of 25% because they export a lot to the United States.
Therefore, the president of the Board of Directors of the Group suggested that it could build factories through the Atlantic. “For Audi, American production would be a stage of development as part of our strategy,” said Oliver Blume.
Guarantee employment and conclude associations
“Our biggest lever is to invest in world regions, guarantee employment and conclude the associations,” he said, adding that North America was one of the most important regions for Volkswagen. He claims to “do everything possible” to act as a reliable investor and partner in the United States.
“Constructive discussions are currently being carried out with the United States government,” Volkswagen chief said.
Audi brand cars are produced partly in Germany and European countries, but also in China and Mexico, but not in the United States. Most cars in the Volkswagen group sold in the United States occur outside the country.
And Volkswagen is not the only manufacturer who thinks about opening factories throughout the Atlantic. According to Reuters information, Toyota also plans to produce in the United States the next generation of its RAV4, its best -selling SUV in the US market.
