It will be the most powerful Renault in history, but also the most expensive. The Diamond brand has just opened reservations for its R5 Turbo 3RD, an ultra sports version of its new R5 and tribute to the old R5 Turbo.
From Tuesday, April 22 at 9 am, customers can buy one of the 500 reserve coupons to be able to have priority when you open the orders of this model that will show 540 horsepower.
50,000 euros in deposit
Once registered, it will be possible to “make an appointment with a dealership to sign, against an amount of 50,000 euros, a reserve coupon that will allow you to buy a Renault 5 Turbo 3RD in priority by opening sales and possibly choosing your number”, specifies Renault in a press release.
Given the amount of this deposit, we suspect that the sale price of the new vehicle will be quite high … Renault announces “a recommended planned launch price of 155,000 euros” and an availability in the network in Europe, including the United Kingdom, but also in the Middle East, Japan or Australia.
The first deliveries of this R5 Turbo 3rd are planned during the year 2027.
Renault’s most expensive … but not the group
With this marketing price, this model clearly stands out as the new most expensive model in Renault’s history.
Until now, it was the Megane RS Trophy-R who maintained this record, with a price that began at 55,000 euros, but could reach 85,000 euros with the options, for this edition limited to 500 copies.
An amount widely exceeded by the R5 Turbo 3RD, with a much less limited production. Which gives a potential billing, by multiplying its sale price for the 1,980 copies, of 306.9 million euros. Much more than the Mégane RS Trophy-R, with between 27.5 and 42.5 million euros in potential revenues.
Currently, it is the Renault Rafale that stands out as the most expensive car in the range, with an initial price of 59,000 euros for the rechargeable hybrid version of 300 horsepower in the Alpine finish of Atelier. An amount that can exceed 66,000 euros by adding some options.
Within the Renault group, the “definitive” version of Alpine A110 R flies to other summits. Ultra-personal, is shown at 265,000 euros and even 330,000 euros for the special series “La Bleue”, limited to 15 copies of 110 in total.
