The social lease will return in the coming months. A July 20 decree published in the official magazine on June 24 offers some details about this device that allowed last year to finance 50,000 electric cars in France.
The social lease is perpetuated over the next five years, with funds that will now go through certificates of Energy Economics (EEC), such as the ecological bond as of July 1.
Good surprise in the current budget climate, the number of validated files will be the same as last year. Given the success found and more than 90,000 applications, 50,000 applications had finally been validated.
“The objective of the program is to financially support the rental of at least 50,000 electricity cars for modest households, including at least 5,000 cars for people whose home or workplace is in a municipality, part of the territory is in an area at stake for air quality,” said the decree.
An envelope almost divided by two
Although the low -emission areas (ZFE) are questioned, the decree uses the term “stake zone for air quality”, no doubt to anticipate the end or maintain in another form of this framework that aims to exclude the old cars of circular in large cities. A way also to reserve 10% of the archives for people living in large cities.
At the beginning of June, we knew it was Ademe (Environment and Energy Management Agency) that now piloted this social lease, but with a strongly reduced budget envelope, to 369 million euros, against 650 million last year.
Inevitably, file assistance will be reduced equally 13,000 euros per household finished last year and would fall to 7,380 euros. The decree also specifies that social lease will not be combined with ecological bonus, which could have allowed to compensate for this significant fall.
In this context, it is difficult to imagine rents as low as those offered last year, which could fall at 40 euros per month. This year we would remain in the initial rental lens to 100 euros per month, even for a simple municipal car.
What conditions for this social lease 2025?
The Ministry of Ecological Transition has not yet been communicated in this new version of the social lease, but it is supposed to be concerned about people with a fiscal income of reference for participation less than or equal to 16,300 euros per year, those that can currently benefit from the maximum ecological bonus, to 4,000 euros.
Last year, it was also necessary to justify that the proportion of the trip made with his personal vehicle between the home and the workplace, was greater than 15 km, or that more than 8,000 km per year were carried out as part of their professional activity.
The eligible models must be the same as those that can benefit from the ecological bonus, respecting the criteria of the environmental score, with a ceiling price of 47,000 euros, a weight of less than 2.4 tons and an autonomy greater than or equal to 200 km.
What eligible models?
Which potentially benefits from models such as the Citroën ë-C3, which should soon be offered in a more affordable version than currently, with an 82 horsepower engine and a 30 kWh battery that would accurately fulfill this criterion of the 200 km of theoretical minimum autonomy.
The R5 has also recently benefited from a more affordable version, in five finishes, which combines the small 40 kWh battery of the “Urban Autonomie” version, with a 95 horsepower engine and running quickly in direct current.
