Around a new electricity summer on the roads? With more and more French that lead in electric cars and load stations available on highways, this 2025 season should break the new records.
All combined engines, the car is still, with much, the most used mode of transport to travel. A little more than one in two French (54%) predicts to go on vacation this summer and, among them, 75% will favor the car, indicates the second edition of the Opinionway barometer for Drivalia*, a subsidiary dedicated to the credit solutions of Credit Agricole.
But 30% of the French also claim that they now favor more ecological options. An important concern among young people between 18 and 34, with whom this rate increases to 80%.
A rental car to try the electrical experience
Car rental can try an electric car for 27% of the French, a 4 -point figure compared to last year. The opportunity also to find a more suitable vehicle for its destination: a small car from the city easy to park, for example, which can be rented after its train trip (chosen by 19% of French vacationers) or by plane (21%).
However, the estimate of the average budget dedicated to this car rental for a week falls significantly compared to 2024, which goes from 365 euros to 281 euros.
Only 5% of electric vacationers
Another study by Opinionway, for Point S maintenance centers, published a little earlier, showed a certain decrease in the use of the individual car, chosen by 60% of vacationers, 15 points less than in 2020. The shared car wins the Earth with 6% of respondents that provides that the shared trip, increasing in relation to last year.
“We observe a significant use of the car trip among young people aged 18 to 24 years old against 3 to 5% in other age groups. This development will undoubtedly be taken at the end in the coming years, explains Frédéric Micheau, deputy general director of Way of Opinion Way, cited in the press release.
Among those who leave with a private car, 82% remain faithful to the thermal and 12% to hybrid. Therefore, the proportion of electrical vacationists remains quite low, with 5%, but with 3 points more than in 2023.
