Do’es a little a brand in the brand. John Cooper works, or JCW, is somehow what Abarth for Fiat. Do the fact, is the Mini performance division, the sports versions of the British brand models, with a much more dynamic design and improved performance through the engine or vehicle configuration.
And in L’Amage d’aBarth or d’A alpine, the JCW label converted to La’electric, which is now offered in all Mini Range models, the Cooper but also El’Aceman for these highlighted versions.
Do ‘What is “John Cooper Works”?
John Cooper remains a great name in the ‘History of motoring. This British engineer worked with MINI of the 1960s so that the true competition cars. With in particular 3 historical victories in the Rally of Monte Carlo in 1964, 1965 and 1967, C’esto is also what explains the place of this test, especially in the magnificent paths of Col Du Turini, a special legendary of this demonstration. And today today’hui continues with a victory for the Mini John Cooper works in 2024 at 24 hours of Nürburgring, a title put into play this year.
do’es John Cooper’s son, Michael Cooper, who created the company in 2002 selling preparation kits for mini models. And in 2007, BMW’s owner of the British brand joined “John Cooper Works” or “JCW” directly in the Mini range. do’es d’Allah, the final finish level, the highest end and the sports available in Mini.
Hoy’huch, we tried these 3 doors in this JCW version, but all the models in the range are now available in this finish, from the little Cooper to Countryman.
An overwhelmed mini in its appearance
So, with this Cooper Electric JCW, we always have a mini that respects the copy of’origen? Not really, if you look at your measures. If it is still quite compact, with 3.88 meters long, a little shorter than its great rival l l’Alpine A290, we were far from the Austin mini of the late 1950s, which were barely more than 3 meters.

On the scale, with the weight of the batteries, this mini also makes L’Eiguille 1.7 tons. do’es almost 200 kg rather than the’a290, which worked particularly at this point.
This first Electric Badgé JCW is adopting a devastating appearance, with many details that highlight its sports temperament and one side of the complete front to promote the `aerodynamics.

Special mention of this “multitone” red ceiling with a tone that turns black to the ceiling, as if the speed had begun to blur the color to iron the body of the body.
An interior between tradition and modernity
The interior of this Mini Cooper JCW offers a good presentation, quite refined with the 24 -inch Round Oled Papalla Oled in a masterpiece, but even with some appreciable details, such as the textile leave on the board and doors.
The finish is less worked at the bottom or in the uimagen of l’rarillador of the driver, which offers the minimum style service.

Interactions for the screen is quite simple and the latter is quite receptive. Too bad, however, have to interact with a touch menu to adjust a simple function such as ventilation breathing level. Fortunately, we can still have physical shortcuts for deflation.
We can also count on the compatibility with Android Auto and Carplay, even if the ‘Visualization N’No Ocupes Todo’Pantalla.
No meter screen, but a head screen (not very) head, since it displays a small window and appears rather in front of the windshield. It is still practical to have the speed and indications GPS without having to look at the central.
Side of habitability, this is not the strong point of this Cooper, even if we have two relatively comfortable places in the ‘Volver and a trunk of 210 liters.
Driving, in El’Turini Col
To pay tribute to the glorious past in Mini Rally and in particular to Monte Carlo, the brand organized its evidence on the legendary roads of Col du Turini. A good test also for this “Cooper Electric JCW”.
If in dynamic conduction, we can only the firmness of the suspensions and the precise and quite direct direction, less the case in normal driving. L’Anonvión remain relatively comfortable, especially thanks to good quality seats, but a commitment to accept and connect with the JCW label.
Under the hood, we have an electric motor of 258 horsepower. Or, rather, 231 horsepower, with an impulse to activate behind the steering wheel, which saves the additional 27 horses. The maximum speed is announced at 200 km/h with 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Actions that give a smile behind the wheel and approach what we can live in A290, even if the French probably benefits greater agility with this reduced weight (a bit).
Mini innovation at the level of high head, with a speed indicator before a turn that can make one think of a special rally co -pilot. If it arrives too fast, the route becomes red, before changing yellow and then white at the right speed.
The addition of artificial noises, which are never a great success (but here have the original merit with a fun “artificial rata” in deceleration) brings a complement to the interesting information in dynamic driving.
A sports driving that also allows you to try the 49.2 kWh net battery, with 371 km in WLTP theoretical autonomy. Logically, reaching the top of the pass, the consumption exceeded 30 kWh per 100 km, which would reduce the autonomy to just over 160 km.

Fortunately, the descent and a more urban behavior took us back to a more reasonable average of 20 kWh per 100 km of a total of 200 km toured, which would give a range, certainly reduced but more comfortable anyway, 250 km.
In a more classical behavior, we appreciate another place the many options for driving and cameras, as well as a regenerative braking that can go as far as “a pedal” driving. Too bad that I cannot adjust this level of recovery of’energy that is not through the birth.
Prices aligned with competition?
The Mini Cooper Electric JCW starts at 42,550 euros. And a little more than 46,000 euros are needed with options in our D’A test model, including the XL package at 3,310 euros that includes many equipment. However, there is no ecological bonus with a production in China of this model.
An initial price that represents an additional cost of almost 8,000 euros compared to the Cooper Se, also electric and offers a little more, an engine of 218 horsepower with 0 to 100 in 6.7 seconds.
The Mini Cooper 3 Doors JCW in thermal approach the prices of the electric version with a fine of CO2 to 2,544 euros.
Among the competitors, L’Alpine A290 s’póster at 38,700 euros in the 180 horsepower version and 41,700 euros for the 220 horsepower engine.
Finally, L’Brarth 500e, with actions a notch below
