The Stellantis factory in Poissy (Yvelines) will stop three weeks in October and its 2,000 employees will be made in partial and vacation unemployment, due to a “difficult market in Europe,” confirmed the AFP group on Monday, September 22.
The site unions learned the news in the morning, during an extraordinary meeting of the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) that was not planned, said Jean-Pierre Mercier, representative of the Sud, to the AFP.
JUDGMENT FROM OCTOBER 31
The last automotive assembly plant in île-de-France announced “the production that was arrested in 15 business days, from October 13 to 31, this to adapt its production rate to a difficult market in Europe, leaving its actions as well as possible before the end of the year,” confirmed the fourth world automobilo group to AFP.
“Three days of vacation had already positioned themselves in October, to which, therefore, 12 days of partial unemployment will be added,” said the same source.
It is “unheard of in Poissy,” says Jean-Pierre Mercier.
“The work will be carried out during the production stop, and training sessions will be organized to continue working on the industrial performance of the site,” Stellantis said.
An uncertain future
During the meeting, the group mentioned, according to Jean-Pierre Mercier, the fall in sales of Opel Mokka, produced in Poissy.
The union representative says that it is “convinced” that “management accelerates the closing plan of the factory”, while Mokka production will stop in 2028 and that “no new vehicle is announced.”
Jean-Pierre Mercier also points out that this announcement occurs when, according to Le Parisien, the mayor of Poissy Sandrine Dos Santos will receive the president of the Valérie Pécresse region on Tuesday on Tuesday and the Administration of Paris Saint-Germain to defend the establishment of the future stadium of the football club in his commune.
The PSG plans to abandon its historical strength of the princes parc des because the City of Paris refuses to sell it. Two sites remain in the race, in Massy (Essonne) and Poissy, in the land that belongs to Stellantis, where the factory is located.
The site will not be able to welcome the club “Without a strong industrial project,” said Mrs. Pecresse in May. “It cannot be Stellantis or PSG, it must be Stellantis and PSG.”
