Former American hip-hop mogul P. Diddy, sentenced in early October to four years and two months in prison for a case of sexual violence, is available for release on May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons registry this Monday, October 27.
This date takes into account the time that Sean Combs, his legal name, has already been behind bars in a New York prison, more than a year, and also includes possible sentence reductions for good behavior during detention.
His lawyers appealed his conviction and sentence. They also requested that the 55-year-old former producer be transferred to a New Jersey penal institution with less strict security and a drug program.
P. Diddy had escaped the most serious charges
On October 3, P. Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison by a New York court for transporting people for the purpose of prostitution, as well as a fine of $500,000.
“These are serious crimes that have caused irreparable harm to two women” and “the effects of which are still felt today,” commented Arun Subramanian, the judge who presided over the trial, adding that “the court is not certain that, if they are released, these crimes will not be committed again.”
In July, after two months of trial, jurors rejected the most serious charges of sex trafficking and criminal conspiracy brought against Sean Combs, sparing him a life sentence.
But the former businessman and successful musician still risked a lot, since the acts for which he was found guilty were punishable by a total of 20 years in prison. The prosecution had requested at least 11 years in prison against him, the defense had requested that his sentence not exceed 14 months.
