A slight increase ahead of the January 1 jump. Last week, prices at pumps increased very slightly on average in France, according to the latest figures published on Monday by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. Following the slight rise in oil prices, prices at the pump were up a few cents.
Increase from two cents to two and a half cents
The largest increase concerns the unleaded 95 E10: the liter went from 1.616 euros to 1.6423 euros on average, an increase of 2.6 euro cents. On the diesel side, the increase is 1.7 euro cents, up to 1.7665 euros per liter on average last week.
This last week of 2022 was also the last week of rebates from the government and TotalEnergies (10 cents each). They left on December 31 at midnight, replaced by an aid of 100 euros for the most modest drivers. This help will be available from January 16.
Sharp rise in prices this week?
Therefore, prices will increase mechanically this week, with the end of discounts. On the instant price survey site Carbu.com, the price of SP95-E10 is on average in France this Monday at 1,756 euros per liter, an increase of 13.2 cents in one week.
The same occurs with diesel, which jumped 11.7 cents in one week, to 1.873 euros on average per liter. Regardless of the end of the discounts, diesel prices should remain high at the beginning of the year, with the implementation of the embargo on Russian refined products.
