“The marriage was long. We were together for 24 years with ups and downs”, this is how Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, summed up Renault’s “divorce” with Nissan and Mitsubishi. But with the new deal with its Japanese partner, the diamond group has “bought strategic freedom,” according to its CEO.
“I have not experienced the difficulties of the Alliance, I have no emotions with history”, declared Luca de Meo, specifying that “he is not naive, there have been tensions”.
By reducing his participation in the alliance from 43% to 15%, the CEO of Renault even believes that this small participation “contributes much more” to his group.
“This new contract will allow us to produce Nissan and Mitsubishi in France. That’s concrete!” Luca de Meo responds to those who see the future of Renault darken.

From now on, the future is based on all-electrics and a technological shift focused on Ampere, Renault’s future electric division that attracts major technology groups, including Qualcomm and Google.
“I am glad that Qualcomm has decided to invest [dans ce projet]. Renault is a box of technology, not an assembler. The Mégane’s navigation system is one of the best. We did it with Google”, recalls the leader.
