It will surely be the best competitor of the Citroën AMI. Ligier, the famous French car manufacturer without a license, will launch its first 100% electric model.
autonomy record
The Myli will go on sale in the spring of 2023 and promises “impressive autonomy”, on a dedicated page on the official site. “Its extensive autonomy, a new benchmark in the market for cars without an electric license, will allow you to hit the road with complete peace of mind,” specifies the description, which is why it already seems to bet on a range of more than 75 maximum kilometers. offered by the Citroën AMIGO.
Another strong point compared to the small Citroën assembled in Morocco, a production made in France. “Assembled in France, Myli is the result of the Ligier Group’s experience in research and development in the electrical field, including Pulse 3 and Pulse 4, models that are acclaimed throughout Europe by professionals.”
If the Myli will be the first car without a Ligier license, the brand already markets an electric utility vehicle, the Pulse 4 (in a short version without a license or a long version with a B1 license), and a 3-wheel electric scooter, the Pulse 3, both aimed at professionals.
More and more electric cars without a license
The launch of the Citroën AMI has greatly contributed to electrifying the market for cars without license plates, historically geared towards diesel engines for regulatory reasons. This diesel engine accounted for almost all sales in France in 2019 (94%) according to data from AAA Data.
Since then, the share of electric vehicles sold in this market has skyrocketed: 22% in 2020, the year the Citroën AMI was launched, which later shared this market with a certain Renault Twizy, launched in 2011 and still marketed by the brand in diamond despite very mixed success.
In 2021, this share of electric cars without a license even reached 30% of sales and we have maintained this trend since the beginning of 2022 (from January to August).
Aixam, another French brand specialized in cars without a license plate, also launched its first models almost 10 years ago, but sees its sales take off in 2022. Of just over a hundred annual sales since 2019, AAA Data thus accounts for 409 electric registrations. Aixam since the beginning of the year, still far from the 5,380 sales of Diesel models.
