The Government will extend aid for the purchase of new bicycles, electric or not, in 2023

Clément Beaune, Delegate Minister for Transport, announces that the aid for the purchase of bicycles that was to end in December will continue in 2023.

The 250 million euro cycling plan announced by the Government will not only be used for infrastructure and safe parking. On FranceTVInfo, Clément Beaune, Delegate Minister for Transport, announced that the purchase aid, which was due to end at the end of December 2022, will continue in 2023.

“It is a significant sum. There is an appetite for cycling as long as there are safe infrastructures. We will extend the aid for the purchase of bicycles “beyond December 31”, announced Clément Beaune.

traditional or electric

This summer, the Government has already reinforced these purchase aids with a bonus for a new traditional bicycle subject to means test. The tax base per unit must be less than or equal to 6,300 euros. This aid is set at 40% of the price, with a cap of €150 (ie €375 total cost).

For new electrically assisted bicycles (VAE), the bonus has been increased to a maximum of 400 euros (or 40% of the price) if the reference tax on income per share is less than or equal to 6,300 euros and for people disabled. If the tax reference unit income is between 6,301 euros and 13,489 euros, it is limited to 300 euros.

Finally, the aid can reach 2,000 euros for the purchase of a cargo bike, elongated, adapted to a situation of disability, folding (electric or traditional) or an electric trailer. Again, this bonus is based on taxable income.

These grants can be combined with local grants. Entering into force on August 15, it was to end on December 31, 2022.
