Another week of falling average fuel prices in France. Diesel was priced on average at 1.6593 euros per liter, 3.7 cents less, compared to 1.496 euros per liter of 95E10 unleaded gasoline, 0.4 cents less, according to the latest survey by the Ministry of Ecological Transition stopped on Friday, September 23.
Enough to reduce the difference between the two fuels to just over 16 cents, since gasoline has been less expensive than diesel since the start of the war in Ukraine, with the exception of the period between mid-May and early June.
At least one diesel
Diesel fuel reached its lowest level since the end of January 2022. For gasoline, we have to go back to April 2021 to find a level similar to the current average price.
Since September 1, the government discount has been reduced from 18 cents to 30 cents. For its part, TotalEnergies (Total and Total Access stations) also applies a discount of 20 cents, causing a real avalanche in its stations.
Despite last week’s rise of $1.2 per barrel of North Sea Brent, oil prices also remain relatively low. This Monday at noon, the barrel of Brent for delivery in November fell 0.68% to 85.56 dollars. A barrel of American West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for delivery the same month fell 0.72% to $78.17.
