An ecological bonus soon reserved for electric cars produced in Europe? This is an idea mentioned this Monday by Bruno Le Maire, during the press conference to present the 2023 budget project. “European territory or strictly comply with the new environmental regulations.”
like in the united states
Bruno Le Maire directly took the example of the policy implemented by Joe Biden. In early August, the US Congress voted a measure that reserves the tax credit for the purchase of an electric car to vehicles produced entirely on the North American continent, battery included. If such signs were installed in France, certain models would be excluded from the bonus, such as those of the Chinese brand MG, at very competitive prices, the Tesla eligible for the bonus (few at the moment) or… the Dacia Spring.
Nothing has yet been recorded, neither on the framework nor on the criteria that will be taken into account for this possible signaling (what would be those “environmental standards” that vehicles should meet?). However, such a move for Bruno Le Maire would only make sense at the European level, in response to a measure of American sovereignty. Discussions on the 2023 budget will begin in October in the National Assembly.
The future “Macron lease” in the 2023 budget
The 2023 budget project provides for a total of 1,300 million euros allocated to “the acquisition of clean vehicles”, from the ecological bonus to the conversion bonus through the new “social leasing” system. The contours of this electric car rental announced at around 100 euros per month will have to be specified in the coming weeks.
Bruno Le Maire also confirmed the reduction of the premium from 6,000 to 5,000 euros in the draft budget, while the conversion premium will remain at the same level.
