Fuel prices: diesel rises 10 cents

At €1.95 a liter on average in France, diesel recovered almost 11 cents last week, its biggest rise since early June. The increase is much less significant for gasoline, which still returns to 1.74 euros per liter.

Hot shot at the price of diesel. The most consumed fuel in France saw its price increase by 10.9 cents last week in France, with an average price of 1.9488 euros per liter, according to the latest statement from the Ministry of Ecological Transition detained on Friday, August 26. It is thus close to its level in mid-July (1.95 euros per liter on July 15).

This is the second consecutive week of increases for diesel, while its price has been falling since June 17. This is even the strongest increase registered since the beginning of June, with two weeks of increase in the price of a liter of more than 10 cents.

On the gasoline side, unleaded 95-E10 gasoline was on its side by 0.9 cents last week, with an average of 1.7392 euros per liter. A rise that ends 10 consecutive weeks of decline.

Although oil prices are still below 100 dollars – a barrel of Brent from the North Sea lost another 3 cents last week to settle at 97.9 dollars – this increase is explained more by the fall of the euro against to the dollar, which automatically increases the cost of black gold for Europeans.

Discount of 30 cents on September 1

Given this expected rise in fuel prices, the Government plans to increase the discount, which will drop from 18 cents to 30 cents this Thursday, September 1. This aid will then be lowered and will amount to 10 cents per liter in November and December.

Please note that this 30 cent discount can be combined with the TotalEnergies discount, which will be 20 cents from September 1 to November 1 in all the service stations of the group.
