Tolls: Beaune asks motorway companies to establish a discount for the holidays

In RTL, the Delegate Minister of Transport has asked the motorway companies to introduce a reduction of at least 10% in tolls for the summer period.

Clément Beaune wants to lower the price of tolls for holiday departures. Invited this Wednesday on RTL, the Delegate Minister for Transport asked the motorway companies to agree on “a commercial gesture, a discount” for the French who go to their vacation spot by car, in a “difficult context of inflation, difficulties of purchasing power”. .

“Last year, there was a 10% reduction for those who benefit from holiday vouchers, there are almost 5 million French people, so it is an important gesture. I wish we had a less equivalent gesture this year for families who are they go on vacation on the way,” he said.

Towards a new contribution from motorway companies to finance the ecological transition?

A year ago, motorway companies such as Vinci Autoroutes or Sanef had effectively decided to grant a 10% reduction in their network in toll charges paid by holiday checks deposited in electronic tolls.

But this gesture had “arrived in mid-July, so a certain number of families had already gone on vacation. That is why, this year, it must be brought forward. It must be brought forward now so that it starts from the beginning” . first vacation departures at the end of June/beginning of July,” said Clément Beaune.

The Minister of Transport was also in favor of establishing an “additional contribution” from highway companies to finance the ecological transition. “There already are,” but “we could go further,” he suggested. “It is a debate that we will have in the coming weeks, and the Government has seized the Council of State to look at the legal options.”
