Poland will appeal European Union (EU) regulations aimed at ending the sale of thermal cars from 2035 to the EU’s highest court in the coming days, Polish Climate Minister Anna Moskwa said on Monday.
The European Fit for 55 package, approved at the beginning of the year, plans to launch a new carbon market aimed at limiting emissions from construction and transport, by reducing carbon emissions from cars and vans to zero from 2035.
Insufficient analysis of commercial and social consequences
Poland was the only country that systematically opposed the proposal and voted against the regulation, considering that it did not include a sufficient analysis of the commercial and social consequences of the ban on the commercialization of thermal vehicles.
“We do not agree with this proposal, as with other proposals made by the ‘Fit for 55’ project, and we will take the case to the Court of Justice of the European Union. I hope other countries will join us,” Anna Moskwa told Poland. . radio station Radio Zet on Monday. “We will submit the application in the next few days.”
