“We have started to do it,” he continued, announcing that “1,000 existing post offices” will now open on Saturdays in rural areas, where until now they were closed. These openings should be done gradually over the next 18 months.
La Poste “has a strategic desire” to “not only stay in the territories but invest there, it is very important,” said Nathalie Collin, who considered that “the French are very attached to the proximity of their post.”
A plan of 800 million euros
This decision to open post offices in rural areas on Saturdays is part of an investment plan of 800 million euros between 2022 and 2025.
An endowment that will serve to transform and modernize the group’s distribution network, but also to “expand its territorial presence” and “diversify its local network” with the aim of going from 35,000 to 40,000 service points in two years. 2400 people must also be recruited.
