Europe will increase its efforts in the delivery of arms and ammunition to help Ukraine carry out its counteroffensive against the Russian army that invaded its territory at the beginning of 2022, said the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, in an interview with Parisian this Sunday.
“We are going to increase the effort regarding the delivery of arms and ammunition, because this is a very intense war in which they play a crucial role”, declares Thierry Breton. “We are organizing as if this war is going to last several more months, or even longer.”
“One million large-caliber weapons” delivered in 12 months
The former Minister of Economy recalls that Europe has promised to supply “in the next twelve months one million large-calibre weapons: 155 mm, 152 mm, 122 mm, 120 mm, that is, calibers according to NATO standards and the standards from the former Soviet bloc countries because the Ukrainians still use these weapons”.
Thierry Breton also recalls the release by the European Union of an envelope of 500 million euros to provide Ukraine with sufficient ammunition. “It is the first time that we coordinate to manufacture, together, weapons and ammunition.
