You should no longer say “dark kitchen” or “dark shop,” but “all-online restaurant” and “relay store,” according to a list of economic and financial terms recommended by the Commission for the Enrichment of the French Language, published on Saturday in the Official Gazette. Diary.
An “all online restaurant” means a “catering business that prepares food exclusively for delivery of orders placed online or over the phone,” and the term adopted by the Commission is intended to replace “dark kitchen,” “ghost kitchen,” ” ghost restaurant” or “virtual restaurant”.
Order preparation warehouses also targeted
The “relay store” is also intended, defined as a “secondary store of an online sales company, which is located close to potential customers and whose shelves are arranged like those of a mini-market in order to facilitate the task of the order pickers. to replace the “dark store”.
In addition, on Saturday a decree came into force in France that considers “dark shops” as warehouses, and not as businesses, which allows municipalities to regulate their activity.
“Green finance” in the crosshairs
The Commission has also taken an interest in “green finance”, “all public or private financial activities intended to contribute to the protection of the environment and the improvement of environmental conditions”, and “climate finance”, “all activities green financial institutions that aim to fight climate change, mitigate its effects or adapt to it.” Among its tools, we will officially prefer “green bond” and “climate bond” to “green bond” and “climate bond”, terms that already are widely used.
In this list published in the DO, we also find the “ad hoc acquisition entity”, or “specific vocation acquisition company (SAVS)”, “ad hoc company that enters the stock market by issuing shares offered to the public for the purpose of its listing, which is constituted to buy, depending on the opportunities, one or more unlisted companies and absorb them”. In French, it is therefore a matter of replacing by SAVS what the financial markets have known up to now under the English term of SPAC (“Special Purpose Acquisition Company”).
The “digital” transformation instead of “digital”
A person who habitually alternates or combines several professional activities of a different nature is officially qualified as “multiactive” (“slasher” in English). Finally, we should no longer talk about “digitization” or “digital transformation”, but about “digital transformation”.
“We also find, in this sense, the term “digitization”, points out the Commission for the Enrichment of the French Language, which defines the process as the “transformation of an organization, a sector of activity or economic or social practices through the systematic implementation of connected computing”.
