Riots after Nahel’s death: “mobilized” insurers do not commit to deductibles

Insurers announced their “mobilization” on Saturday night to respond to the victims of riots that have broken out across France since Tuesday.

The professional organization France Assureurs assured AFP on Saturday night that its members were “all mobilized” to respond to the victims of the riots, however, without responding precisely at this stage to the request of the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire , who wants to lower deductibles

“Speeding up compensation is particularly crucial to allow professionals whose work tools have been degraded or even destroyed to quickly restart their activity,” he said.

The professional organization asks victims to contact their insurers “as soon as possible” “by any means of communication.”

A crisis unit “will organize frequent updates of the situation between the insurers to monitor the evolution of the situation, identify the needs on the ground and provide the appropriate responses,” France Assureurs specified.

Bruno Le Maire had called on insurers on Saturday to extend reporting deadlines, lower deductibles and quickly compensate professionals who were victims of the riots. According to him, the federation of insurers “formally undertook to study the possibility of reducing deductibles” during a meeting on Saturday afternoon in Bercy.

France Assureurs did not respond to this point in its communication. A spokesperson confirmed to AFP that they had to stick with it “for the moment.”
