Danone is considering legal remedies after the Russian state took over its subsidiary, a source told Reuters on Monday.
The French group is in contact with the French authorities, including Emmanuel Macron’s cabinet, and plans to write a letter to the Kremlin, the source added.
The Russian state has seized control of the local Danone subsidiary under a decree signed on Sunday by President Vladimir Putin.
This decree signed by Vladimir Putin and published on Sunday on the official Russian legal portal plans to place tens of thousands of shares belonging to Danone under the control of the Russian state, as well as 98.56% of the shares of the Russian brewery Baltika, belonging to to the Danish company Carlsberg.
