United States: UPS and Teamsters union announce agreement that rules out risk of strike

While the failure of the negotiations raised fears of a wildly popular strike movement across the Atlantic among UPS employees, the union and Teamsters management eventually found common ground.

The US carrier UPS, which delivers letters and packages, and the powerful Teamsters union organization announced an agreement on Tuesday after tense wage negotiations, which eliminates the risk of a major strike in the United States.

They had until July 31 to agree on the next collective agreement, which concerns the union’s 340,000 members. This agreement must be submitted to an employee vote between August 3 and 22.
