Even the contest has the right to cite on Wikipedia. For an event, a date, a place or even a personality to have a dedicated page in the online encyclopedia, the topic must be of sufficient importance. This is now the case of Grokipedia, the latest competitor, led by Elon Musk.
The billionaire who runs X has long criticized Wikipedia, accusing the site of not being neutral and even serving the interests of the progressive camp, censoring the speech of conservatives. Often unfounded accusations, which did not prevent Elon Musk from launching Grokipedia, which now has its own page on Wikipedia. And it is not the work of a pro-Musk, but of an experienced contributor, author of more than 200,000 contributions on Wikipedia for about fifteen years.
Ideological biases described by Wikipedia
Unlike Wikipedia, whose content is generally written by contributors and experts, Grokipedia is generated entirely by artificial intelligence. To do this, the site uses Grok’s generative AI, which is already implemented in This item, the Grokipedia page on Wikipedia highlights extensively:
The text, which must be neutral and based on Wikipedia’s strict rules, also adds a part that recalls the “oriented and biased” elements of Grokipedia: “Certain sensitive topics are not present on Grokipedia. Users observe that mentions of conspiracies or controversial information present on Wikipedia disappear or are strongly minimized.” As proof, the absence of mention of Elon Musk’s Nazi salute in January 2025 on his Grokipedia page. The same goes for the Black Lives Matter movement, described as “benefiting from unfavorable and biased treatment.”
The same page also specifies that the reception has not been very positive on the part of Grokipedia and that the site is based largely on Wikipedia articles, “some of which have been copied almost word for word, without always explaining it.”
However, please note that the page is already the subject of a small periodic battle within the modification tab. Between October 28 and 31, it was amended several dozen times, sometimes to “repeal” comments deemed non-neutral or similar to the wording. This practice is very widespread, especially on the pages of political or media figures who try to make compromising elements that concern them invisible. Among the “modifiers” who wanted to make the content more favorable to Grokipedia, we found in particular a contributor blocked several times due to ideological bias.
