SNCF site taken by storm. On the occasion of the opening of the sale of train tickets for the Christmas season, the railway company sold on its website and in its application “more than 30 tickets per second” between 6 and 8 a.m. this Wednesday, “that is to say the equivalent of 3 TGV every minute”.
The “exceptional” crowds encountered this morning on the SNCF site and the SNCF Connect app also caused some technical problems, with many customers indicating that they were unable to book their ticket. In fact, the operator claims to have registered up to 100,000 connections per minute.
9 million tickets available
In total, 9 million TGV, Ouigo and Intercités tickets are offered for the period from December 11 to January 2, 2023 (until July 7 for Ouigo tickets). That’s a million more than last year.
The opening of the sale of train tickets for the Christmas holidays had already aroused the enthusiasm of the French last year, with one million tickets sold on the first day, 15% more than in 2019.
