Taxpayers with IRS due on 2022 income have until next Thursday to pay the tax, and there is also the option to make this payment in installments.
According to the latest official data from the Treasury Department, released in June two days before the end of the IRS campaign, 883,600 IRS collection receipts had been issued by that date, with these taxpayers paying a total of $1,354 million.
According to the rules, today ends the deadline for taxpayers to pay this defaulted tax.
In this situation are people whose withholding tax on income in 2022 was not sufficient to cover the tax they actually had to pay or people who received income that was not subject to withholding tax, such as rent.
However, the applicable regime stipulates that for IRS amounts of up to 5,000 euros, the Tax and Customs Administration (AT) will automatically issue a payment plan if the taxpayer does not make the payment on the scheduled date.
Similar to the simplified installment payment arrangement that the taxpayer can adhere to, these installment plans also “pay the first installment until the end of the month following the creation of the plan by the AT and the payment of the next installments until the end of the corresponding month”.
The outstanding amount will be divided into a maximum of 12 installments.
August 31 is also the deadline for the AT to return the IRS to taxpayers who are entitled to a refund.
