Contact details, I went … data of 6.4 million Bouygues clients were pirate

Victim of a cyber attack, the operator said that the bank card numbers and the passwords of the accounts have not been affected.

The Bouygues Telecom Group was the victim of a cyber attack that led to the data leakage of “6.4 million customer accounts”, including, the company announced Wednesday in a statement.

The stolen data are “contact data, contractual data, civil status data or those of the company if you are a professional, as well as I went,” explains in an email sent to your customers, consulted by AFP. However, Bouygues specifies that “bank card numbers and passwords of their Bouygues telecommunications accounts are not affected.”

The operator also said that “the situation was resolved as soon as possible.”

Fraud attempts

All customers in question have received or receive this email or an SMS to inform them. Bouygues also placed an Internet page dedicated online.

“This situation could expose it to fraud attempts: email or fraudulent calls. When using your data, a scam can pretend to be Bouygues Telecom or other company (bank, insurance …), for example, obtain additional information such as your bank card number or your identifiers and passwords,” the operator emphasizes on this page.

This cyber attack detected on Monday was resolved by the telecommunications teams of the Bouygues, who “filed a complaint with the judicial authorities” and informed the National Data Protection Commission (CNIL).
