Lyon, capital of Gaul, gastronomy … and debit on the Internet. In its last classification of the best connections by country and city, Speedtest presents the 5 main cities in which cable Internet flow is the fastest. It is Lyon who obtains first place, far ahead of other cities, with an average flow of 347.52 Mb/s.
Second, it is Abu Dhabi (in the United Arab Emirates) that is distinguished, with an average of 344.34 MB/s, followed by Valparaíso, in Chile, at 330.57 MB/s.
The high -speed plan praised in the big French cities
It is found that the first two Chinese cities are Beijing (4th place) with 303.44 MB/Sy Shanghai (5th place) with 303.15 Mb/s. Therefore, the French city obtains first place thanks to a network dedicated to particularly important fiber. As of July 30, 2025, 96% of Lyonnais’s homes were, therefore, eligible for fiber. This does not necessarily mean that everyone is a fiber subscriber, but with the end of the ADSL and the copper network, they will soon have the option to pass.
By 2030, the date on which the ADSL should definitely disappear, the classification established by Speedtest should be largely annoying because low flows should no longer be there.
Meanwhile, Lyon can savor, and point out that, despite 97% of eligible housing coverage in Paris, the capital of France is only in the 23rd place: it loses 4 places for a year, at 238.51 Mb/s.
In the Country classification, it is the city-state of Singaporere that arrives first with 393.15 Mb/s. But France is not far away, thirdly, with an average of 319.43 MB/s.
This good health in terms of flow is due significantly to the great very high speed plan launched by Emmanuel Macron. Its objective is to support people and communities to leave the copper network and access a better connection. We also observe that arrival at the market for satellite operators such as Starlink, with important flows, also made possible serve white areas.
