Portuguese Contisystems, integrated into the Mailcomms group, will invest in Latin America

The technology company Contisystems, which was recently bought by the Spanish group Mailcomms, wants to invest in Latin American markets and benefit from the presence of some customers in these countries, Duarte Conceição, the company’s executive president, told Lusa.

According to the manager, Contisystems is a company “over 50 years old” that started “in the field of graphic production, paper and transaction documents for a highly regulated sector that is banking”.

However, as digitalization progressed, the company built a digital platform that allowed customers to quickly send communications, statements and other processes and was operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Contisystems is currently active in the areas of payment solutions, cybersecurity and customer communication management.

The acquisition by Spanish group Mailcomms will allow Contiystems, which already exported services to some countries, to expand its activities to Latin America, Duarte Conceição said.

“The Mailcomms group is a company very similar to Contisystems in Spain,” said the president of the Portuguese company, emphasizing that the Spanish company “saw the opportunity to create an Iberian project. They have a vision for it Iberian Peninsula”, such as “there are more and more Spanish companies active in Portugal”, he said.

“It is clear that now that we are in an Iberian logic, the next step for us as a group will be very clear,” he emphasized, pointing to the South American markets. “These customers, the banks, are also there, they have a global presence,” he added.

Contisystems currently has 140 employees, who are integrated into the group and achieved a turnover of 11 million euros last year. Duarte Conceição points to growth this year of between 15% and 20%.

The company is also looking to hire approximately 15 new employees.

Duarte Conceição also said that the company is launching new services. “We have launched a cybersecurity service for SMEs, something the market did not have yet,” he indicated, adding that he will also “launch a document signing platform” that is “already integrated with the Digital Mobile Key ”.

“Being part of a group of this nature clearly gives us extra strength here, it allows us to continue to grow, develop our business” and “in this case also continue to provide services to Spain,” he said, adding he emphasized that the company will bring “innovation to the Portuguese market” and bring some of its solutions to the neighboring country.

“We already have a service we call ‘link to pay’ where people can pay directly from their ’email’ or from their PDF document and guarantee a journey where the person does not have to jump between applications and screens here” , he emphasized.

This service “is something that can also be taken to Spain”, as well as in the field of bank cards, he pointed out.

The purchase price has not been disclosed.

According to information sent to Lusa, the Mailcomms group has been active in managing personalized graphic communications companies for more than 25 years, with more than ten years of experience in digital communications.

At the end of 2022, the Spanish company achieved a turnover of around 22 million euros.
