Leclerc accepts the government’s proposal. The head of the large distribution brand, Michel-Edouard Leclerc, announced this Tuesday that the 750 service stations of the Leclerc hypermarkets “will sell gasoline daily at cost price” starting September 29.
“This clearly means without benefits and every day, not only on weekends as in our previous operations,” said the president of the strategic committee of the centers E.Leclerc on X (ex-Twitter).
He assures that “this initiative is an act of solidarity with all customers who are scared by the increases and whose purchasing power is greatly impacted.”
Distributors and refiners in Matignon
Michel-Edouard Leclerc specifies, however, that this measure “designed to last, will have to be re-evaluated or adapted to take into account supply conditions and the expected participation of oil companies.”
Given the increase in prices at the pumps, Emmanuel Macron on Sunday asked distributors to sell fuel “at cost” and not at a loss, as the executive had hoped in vain. In this sense, Elisabeth Borne invited refiners, distributors and professionals to Matignon. According to AFP, which cites the prime minister’s entourage, this meeting will take place this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
