Arnaud Montebourg launches an equipment supplier for the French nuclear industry

It partnered with the investment fund Otium Capital to launch Alfeor, a French nuclear equipment manufacturer that has set the goal of bringing together SME subcontractors in the sector.

“Made in France equipment”, Arnaud Montebourg’s company, and the investment fund Otium Capital announced on Wednesday the launch of Alfeor, a French manufacturer of nuclear equipment that has set the goal of bringing together those least involved in the sector .

The equipment manufacturer thus wishes to “contribute to the deployment of the only source of low-carbon, controllable and sovereign energy, and participate in French reindustrialization.”

A sector made up of 2,500 companies

To this end, Alfeor intends to “buy, invest and develop” SMEs subcontractors in the sector “to group their high-tech and high-value-added know-how into an independent medium-sized company”, such as boilermaking, machining and non-destructive testing.

The French nuclear industry “has been abandoned for several decades. The time has come to rebuild it,” said former Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg, co-founder and president of the supervisory board of Alfeor.

“The government, EDF and Framatome are rebuilding it from the top. Alfeor is rebuilding it from the bottom by consolidating, uniting, buying and investing in these dozens of SMEs to turn it into a world-class equipment manufacturer with global capacity and ambition.” he said.-he added, in the press release.

VSEs and SMEs constitute 85% of the companies active in the French nuclear sector, that is, a network of more than 2,500 companies that employ nearly 40,000 employees, according to the same source.
