The Government will carry out “fundamental work” to “understand” the sharp increase in sick leave and does not rule out legislating between now and 2025 on “waiting days”, days of sick leave not paid by Health Insurance, said Aurélien Rousseau on Wednesday.
“We need to understand what is happening and dialogue with all the actors, (…) the companies, the health professionals who prescribe,” he added.
No punitive measures
The PLFSS presented on Wednesday includes measures to strengthen the control power of Health Insurance and employers over the permits granted to social insured people, but at the moment no measure has been planned on a modification of the coverage of the days of waiting, which had previously been considered.
“We had mentioned this option, we examined it and considered that we were not advanced enough to understand the side effects, and that it was necessary to talk more about it with interested parties,” particularly during the next social conference, said Aurélien Rousseau. .
The government wants, in particular, to “understand” why health professionals “say they often prescribe arrests in subjects with somatic pathologies that they have not seen before,” he said.
“What costs the most by far (…) are the very long shutdowns, lasting more than six months,” and “this refers, for example (…) to the debates that will take place at the social conference, because it means hard at work, professional reconversion, prevention by companies,” he further stated.
