Arnaud Montebourg wants to make Alfeor “the Valeo of nuclear energy”

Guest of BFM Business, the former minister details the ambitions of this equipment manufacturer which has set itself the goal of bringing together SME subcontractors in the sector.

Arnaud Montebourgand the investment fund Otium Capital announced this Wednesday the launch of Alfeor, a manufacturer of equipment for French nuclear energy which has set the objective of bringing together SME subcontractors in the sector.

This Wednesday on BFM Business, the former minister explains that this company must respond to “20 years of abandonment of the sector” and thus become “the Valeo of nuclear energy”, in reference to the manufacturer of automotive equipment that supplies the majority from French manufacturers.

Two first acquisitions in process

And to explain: “there are business leaders who cannot finance their investments, their R&D, who have difficulties retaining their talents and there are transmission problems linked to age.”

Specifically, the Otium fund will make investments and acquisitions. “Within a month we will announce our first two acquisitions, a third is under discussion. There are many requests.” he continues.

It will be about “impacting clients” like EDF, “and creating a flow of growth and internationalization that small companies cannot do alone.”

“There is a demand from both sides, above and below and France below. Small companies with a turnover of 5 million euros are interested in the proposal we are making because there is strength in numbers.”

Excluding entrepreneurs, VSEs and SMEs constitute 85% of the companies active in the French nuclear sector and employ almost 40,000 people.
