Camaieu: one year later, the majority of employees are still looking for professional recovery

Across France, around 400 former employees out of a total of 2,100 have found work, with permanent, fixed-term or temporary contracts, according to former CGT union representative Thierry Siwik.

A year after its liquidation, most of the 2,100 dismissed employees of the Camaieu brand are still seeking professional recovery, often far from ready-to-wear, a union and a regional advisor said Thursday during a meeting in front of the former headquarters of Roubaix.

Across France, around 400 former employees have found work, with permanent, fixed-term or temporary contracts, according to former CGT union representative Thierry Siwik.

Camaieu, former leader of women’s ready-to-wear in France, was declared in liquidation on September 28, 2022, two years after its acquisition by a subsidiary of Michel Ohayon’s Financière Immobilier Bordeaux (FIB), which led to the dismissal of 2,100 people. .

In Upper France, which concentrates 450 employees, 46 are registered with Pôle Emploi and 372 are subscribed to the Professional Security Contract (CSP), implemented during major economic layoffs, according to regional advisor Philippe Beauchamps (UDI), consulted by AFP. .

“Labour-intensive” support

The majority of people who requested this support “did so with the desire to retrain professionally”, in early childhood, aesthetics, management or even hospitality. Of these 372, “87 have already returned to work,” according to Philippe Beauchamps.

Lucie Colier, 38 years old, former CGT delegate and warehouse logistics employee, present at the rally, must begin early childhood training in October. “It’s not a complete follow-up like she had thought,” she notes. But “when we see how the textile industry is going, I don’t want to return to the sector.”

Laurent Gunst, former CSE-elect of the UPAE union and now a member of Pimkie, deplores “laborious” support, with “very little or no follow-up.”

The employees also hope that the FIB, which they implicate in the liquidation, will provide them with certain accounting documents that will allow them to understand the links with the other companies in the group, as ordered by the courts in January.

In December, Celio bought the brand at auction. The influencer Lena Situations recently announced in a video the return of Camaieu in September 2024.
