La Française des Jeux (FDJ) announced on Friday the completion of the acquisition of ZEturf, the second operator in the French online horse betting market, as well as a new organization for this activity, in accordance with the commitments made to the Competition Authority . , according to a press release.
Announced in September 2022 by the FDJ, the operation received the green light in mid-September subject to conditions from the Competition Authority.
Diversification
This acquisition, which values ZEturf at 175 million euros, allows the FDJ group “to become the fourth player in competitive online gaming in France (sports betting, horse betting and poker), with a market share of more than 10%.” according to the press release.
“Following the launch of a poker activity, our entry into the world of online horse racing betting completes the diversification of our online offer and reinforces the growth prospects of the FDJ group,” says its president Stéphane Pallez.
The group has in particular undertaken before the Competition Authority to “clearly separate the exercise of its monopolistic gaming activities” (lottery, scratch-off games, etc.) “from its competitive gaming activities” (online betting, poker) with independent websites or applications for each one. type of activity, no common home page and no gateway.
The FDJ is also committed to organizing its competitive gaming activities within one or more dedicated subsidiaries.
