Supplementary pensions: towards a 4.9% increase in pensions on November 1

During the night of Wednesday to Thursday, an agreement was reached between the union and business organizations that manage the Agirc-Arrco plan.

Complementary pensions for former private sector employees will increase by 4.9% as of November 1, in line with inflation, announced the union and employer organizations that manage the Agirc-Arrco plan, which have not yet signed the agreement . Wednesday to Thursday.

The “malus”, a temporary 10% reduction that has been applied since 2019 to the pensions of numerous retirees who left fulfilling all legal conditions, will be eliminated from December 1 for new retirees and then from April for all affected retirees. , they indicated.

Millions of retirees affected

Without definitively committing to sign it, several organizations, including the CFDT and Medef, considered the agreement to be “balanced.” The deadline to sign the agreement was set for Wednesday.

Between 2024 and 2026, the revaluation of pensions could be lower: depending on the economic situation, the increase could be underindexed up to a maximum of 0.4 points below inflation. But the board of directors of the joint body can choose to return it to the inflation level.

The “penalty”, introduced in 2019, was intended to encourage employees to work for another year, even if they had met all legal conditions for leaving. Otherwise, their pension was reduced by 10% for three years.

A bonus was awarded for two to four years of additional work. It will be maintained for those who are not affected by the reform.

Agirc-Arrco pays around 90 billion euros each year to 13 million retirees. This additional part represents between 20% of the total pension for precarious employees and 60% for certain managers.
